Gratteri’s festival purpietta c’addauru this year will be held on Sunday 18 August. The Purpietta c’addauru is a meatball made with grilled meat flavored with laurel and this year it reaches its 2nd edition.
Various activities will take place during the festival.
Starting at 4pm and until 8pm you can take part in guided tours of the historic center and the treasures of Gratteri
The first event will be held at 5 pm in via S. Croce with the traditional “Scecchi … in gimkana”, during which several pairs of boys on donkeys will compete with strength and speed.
At 5 pm in Corso Umberto I the doors of the craft village will open, a place where numerous stands will exhibit their products.
Sagra della purpietta c’addauru by Gratteri, tastings and entertainment
At 8 pm in Piazzetta Ponte Silvio there will be a tasting of a meatball with laurel. With a tasting ticket at the cost of 5 euros you will be entitled to 4 meatballs plus bread and, optionally, a glass of wine or a bottle of water.
From 10 pm for the most characteristic streets and corners of Gratteri, “Vinni a cantari al’ariu scuvertu” will take place with MARIO INCUDINE and his band, a show to rediscover Sicilian serenades.
The event is organized by the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Gratteri and with the collaboration of Gratteri’s butchers.
Information on the meatball with laurel
LaPurpietta c’adduru (or meatball with laurel) is a typical dish of Gratteri tasty and delicious.
The meatballs, kneaded by hand with mixed ground meat and other traditional ingredients, are closed by 2 laurel leaves which, during the grill cooking, release its flavor to the meat.
